Are you ready to take on the responsibility of driving? Enrolling in a driving education course is a crucial step in obtaining your Class D driver’s license?
All teens under eighteen must complete a 30-hour driver’s education course to get a Class D driver’s license, known as Joshua’s Law. The course must be approved by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) and can be taken at a certified private or public driver training school or online. It also includes a classroom portion and a practical driving portion.
Who can I drive with once I earn my Learner's Permit?
You can only drive with your legal parent, guardian, or relative who is 25 years old or older. You may also drive with a state-licensed driving instructor. They must be sitting in the front seat with their Driver’s License.
What is a Class D license in Georgia?
In Georgia, a Class D license is a provisional driver’s license for individuals aged 16 and 17. It is the second step in the licensing process for young drivers and comes with certain restrictions until they reach 18.
Who can sign the application for a minor to get a driver's license, permit, or identification card?
A Parent, Legal Guardian, or Responsible Adult can sign the application for a minor.
What is a Class C license in Georgia?
A Class C license is your ticket to freedom on the road. It’s the standard, non-commercial driver’s license in Georgia, allowing you to operate vehicles for personal or recreational purposes without specific commercial endorsements or restrictions. The best part? You can apply for it once you’re 18.
When can I start the behind-the-wheel lessons?
You can start driving lessons anytime with a valid permit or driver’s license. Once you have registered, you can schedule driving lessons on our website.
Do you offer home pick-up and drop-off?
We offer free Home/High School pick-up and drop-off services.
I am over eighteen and not a U.S. Citizen. How can I obtain a Georgia driver's license?

How can I schedule a Road Test?
Customers can schedule an appointment online. Road Tests are offered at all locations except the location in Downtown Atlanta (400 Whitehall St SW).

Where can I take the Knowledge Exam (written exam)?
The Knowledge Exam can be taken at all Customer Service Center locations except the Jackson location. You do not need a Reservation to take it.
I am new to Georgia. When can I apply for a driver's license?
Once you have established residency in Georgia, you have 30 days to apply for a Georgia driver’s license. You are considered a resident if you have a permanent home or abode in Georgia, accept employment, or enroll your children in a school within 10 days of employment, or have been in the state for 30 days or more.
I want to upgrade my Class D license to Class C. When can I request this change?
If you are under eighteen and have a Class D license, you can request an upgrade to a Class C license within 7 days of your 18th birthday. However, the request will not be processed until your actual 18th birthday. The request will be processed immediately if you are eighteen or older.
Are your instructors licensed?s D driver’s license?
Yes, each of our instructors is licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)to teach classroom and behind-the-wheel training to all age groups.
Do I need to have my car insurance for behind-the-wheel?
No, you are covered under our commercial insurance during all behind-the-wheel training
Do your cars have a backup camera, and is it legal to use it for the driving test?
Yes, you can use a car with a backup camera during a driving test, but you cannot rely solely on it. You should also be able to demonstrate your ability to use mirrors and check over your shoulder.
Do I have to pay to take the class again if I fail the written exam and if so can you help me?
Do not worry if you don’t pass the written test on your first try. We are here to help. Any student who needs extra class time or has failed the written permit test can attend our classes as much as they see fit.
Can I take a behind-the-wheel lesson before Driver Education classes?
We prefer a student to take the classroom driver Education classes before the behind-the-wheel. This allows students to couple classroom techniques while behind the wheel smoothly.
